Sam’s Journey from Graduate to Customer Advisor at Parker

This month, we caught up with Sam, a hardworking and energetic International Business graduate, to hear about his experience transitioning from university life into a busy, customer-focused role at Parker. From challenges in the job market to finding his feet in a high-value role, Sam’s story is one of perseverance, growth, and great support.
Before Parker: Building Foundations
Before joining Parker, Sam worked at Everlight Radiology as a Client Support Cohort while completing his degree. It was a fast-paced environment, dealing with patient queries via phone and email, an experience that gave him a strong foundation in communication, problem-solving, and staying calm under pressure.
“It really taught me how to think on my feet. That experience helped shape how I approach challenges today.”
The Job Search Struggle
Despite having strong experience, Sam faced a common obstacle for graduates, not having a driving licence.
“It was frustrating. I was getting rejections not because I wasn’t right for the job, but because I couldn’t get to the job.”
He first connected with Hannah at Brellis Recruitment when he applied for a role in Warwick. While it wasn’t the right fit logistically, Sam appreciated the honest and supportive conversation. Not long after, Hannah reached out again, this time with an opportunity at Parker in Coventry, a much more accessible location.

Life at Parker: Fast-Paced and Fulfilling
Now in his role as a Customer Support Coordinator, Sam is responsible for ensuring order paperwork is accurate, dealing with manufacturers, resolving customs issues, and responding to customer queries. It’s fast-paced, but it suits him perfectly.
“I love problem-solving, and this role throws something different at me every day.”
Sam now manages accounts worth approximately £6.5 million—a huge responsibility for someone so early in their career.
“It’s given me real insight into supply chain operations and developed my commercial awareness massively.”
He also credits his team for making the transition so positive. From supportive senior managers like Anna and Lina, to his team leader Michelle, Sam feels empowered and inspired.
Going the Extra Mile: Exploring New Passions
One standout moment came when Sam expressed an interest in marketing. Despite not hearing back on an initial application, Michelle took it upon herself to connect him with the right people in the department and encouraged him to get involved.
“That kind of support meant a lot. It showed me that they genuinely care about helping you grow.”
Sam has since applied for a new role in the marketing department at Parker and is excited about the prospect of developing new skills.
